Whether fractional work actually moves productivity or just lets companies underpay expertise
Most people assume fractional executives are either (a) a clever arbitrage where companies get senior talent cheaper, or (b) evidence that top talent wants flexibility. Both get the story half-right in ways that matter for different reasons.
The actual puzzle is identification. Are fractional CFOs and COOs *genuinely* more productive per hour than full-time staff doing similar work, or are they just filling an inefficiency gap that a competent full-timer would eliminate?
